Emily's Bridal

A couple of Bridal shots from a recent session with Emily. She and Miles were married a couple of weeks ago and I'll have a few from their Wedding soon. It was threatening to rain all day during her shoot, but we were lucky and managed to get some great shots of her.

The Wedding of Clint & Margeux

Clint and Margeux had a wonderful Wedding at Rock Creek Ranch in McKinney over the Memorial day weekend. One of the most memorable events was the launching of Chinese Lanterns during the reception. The glow of the lanterns moving through the night sky was something to behold.

They said their own vows during the ceremony and I must say that both KJ and I teared up. Just for reference it is not easy to focus a camera when you have tears in your eyes....

Congratulations to them both!

Tis the Season

So we are in the midst of a very busy Wedding season this year and we are growing the portrait side of the business to the point that we are looking to open a few days during the week as well as just weekends. Very exciting for us!! We will be available weekdays soon!!

Seems crazy to try this in these economic times to expand but sometimes things just fall into place and you have to seize your opportunity.

New Addition to the Zoo

Joining the family today is our new puppy Cooper. He's a Queen Elizabeth Pocket Beagle. Never thought I'd like a small dog, but he is really a piece of work. He is a Beagle, just really small. Beagles are hunting dogs and pocket Beagles were used for Rabbit hunting. They could be carried in the horses saddle bags and that is why the name Pocket is there. Lots of shoots tomorrow.

Busy Weekend!!

A busy weekend and a fun one as well. Started off with a Bridal session for Margeux who will be getting married on the Memorial day weekend coming up. She looks fantastic in her dress and made for some great photos. Of course those will have to wait until after the wedding to post.


Then did the photo coverage for the Groom and Groomsmen for a friend of our family. Another photographer friend was doing the main coverage but didn't think she could get the Groom covered so I was filling in. It was a great experience since I've known the Groom since he was in middle school.







Then a baby session for one of my previous Wedding couples. Their son Gavin was great while we did the session. He only woke up when it was time to go home :) Love it when that happens!

Then we had the Merkle kids. Two brothers and their sister. The oldest Tanner wasn't real thrilled with getting his photos taken but I think we managed to get a few of him in spite of it. Amanda and Logan were more receptive and we are planning on photographing Amanda who is a dancer and Logan who is a musician again in the future. I'm also going to get to one of Tanners rock climbing events and get him in his natural environment.

We finished up with two year old photos of Xander. Xander is my assistant KJ's son and I've been taking pictures of him since he wasn't even born (maternity...).

Chaos!

And so tomorrow the chaos begins! Don't get me wrong it will be organized, fun and exciting chaos, but from now until the end of October we will be constantly shooting. We have only a few open dates and the way things are going I'm betting they fill up with last minute appointments.

My goal is to try and post photos as I can and keep everyone updated on what we are doing this year. We have a terrific client base and love to share whats going on here.

We have looked long and hard to try and find a couple of associate photographers to assist KJ and I and I think we have some good options. KJ begins working with one next week and we hope she is up to speed and shooting with us quickly.

Great Day in Austin

Had a great day in Austin visiting Erin and Tyler. Rained all the way down yesterday but today turned out just beautiful. Erin and Linda had Mom's day at KD and they went wine tasting.

Ty and I just hung out and ran a few errands. It was nice to take it sort of easy since next week begins several months of non stop photo sessions and weddings.

Really love Austin and the food! Last night Salt Lick and tonight Matt's El Rancho. BBQ and Mexican food....No wonder I am always trying to lose weight!

Rainy Easter

It's a windy and rainy Easter here in McKinney. Got lots of yard work done yesterday in anticipation of our outdoor shoots coming up. The goal is to establish several outdoor sets so we can do indoor shots in the studio and then just walk downstairs to do our outdoor shots. Long term goal but we'll get there.

Busy week coming up and then next weekend in Austin to visit the kids. Linda will be going to Mom's day with Erin at KD while Tyler and I just hang out. Still on my diet so we'll have to see how creative I can be when we go out. Lost 20+ pounds so far, but another 20 to go. It's a long road....

Getting Caught Up

So finally getting caught up with my backlog of prints and can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Looking so forward to the weddings we have lined up this year. Lots of great couples and lots of great locations.

The best part of this job is that a year or two after the wedding I get to see my Brides and Groom's again for their Maternity sessions. It so awesome to get to document such significant moments in peoples lives.

Looking Forward

It's going to be a great season this year. Lots of wonderful new couples on the schedule and some fun Portrait sessions scheduled as well. Hope to upload some photos and videos soon.

Still have to get the studio cleaned up. Lots of stuff still there after the remodel.. Have been working hard on new Album samples and packaging. Almost there.

And Here We Go Again!!

This time I'm going to get this Blog going. Lots of things happening since I actually last wrote anything, so hopefully by the end of this week I'll have everything caught up!! We'll see...
